Stupendous Sales and Sequel Sample

I am completely dumbfounded.  I think I went from being my publisher's worst selling author to best selling author in a week.  Please Don't Tell My Parents I'm A Supervillain is selling as well as the best known children's books, and its sales numbers have kept going up and up.  I'm in about the top 1% of Amazon ebook sales now.  My publisher thinks they can bring that up further.

I'm reeling.  I've spent large portions of this week having my friends go 'Oh, your numbers shot way up again today' and wandering around bumping into things and giggling the rest of the day.

I've had a sequel in mind anyway.  Kinda thinking I should fast track that.  I am happier than I've been in years, but all my plans are also blown right out of the water!

When I start outlining a new book, I like to do a sample page or two.  It's often the beginning of the book.  That helps me get into the mindset.  With that in mind, have the beginning of...

At Least I Didn't Blow Up OUR Moon

  1. Just finished reading Please don't tell my parents I'm a supervillian - absolutely loved.

You should definitely fast track a sequel - I know I've added any sequels to my Must Buy list ;D

  3. I love comic book super heroes and super villains and picked up your book last week because it sounded fun. It WAS fun!!! Totally AWESOME fun and I'm hugely and happily addicted to the world and characters of your book. The thought of a sequel makes me go into mad squees of joy!!! Please work like a fiend and pop it out post haste! The first book would make an uber awesome comic book, and I'm really hoping to see it in a Graphic Novel format in the near future. :D Much Much Loves - Bliss Crimson, aka MooncatX

I felt I got trolled. After reading the abstract I now feel in limbo. Also feel this burning need to read book 2 NOW!!!

Seriously, keep up the good work. Read book 1 and was blown away and extremely disappointed when the book ended and I was kicked back to Terra Firma.

  5. Wow, your blog was hard to find.
I am super relieved you are planning a sequel, this was hands down the best super hero book i read in a long time, unbelievable imaginative.
Being a avid reader tends to make a lot of storys (especially from kindle authors) very repetitive, i loved your whole superhero universe, that your main character is not the 1000th superman and the whole supervillain theme.
I am absolutely glad that this book is such a huge sucess and hope the sequel will be one too.

Also: I am a native German and i totally lost it at the German Grenade, my neighbours will probably fill some complains with me :D
(The Translation was false but even more hilarious because of that)

Thats also the reason my grammar in this post is not very good, while i have no problems reading english books my writing is rather poor.

  6. As one of those who bought and just last night Finished Dont tell my parents, I loved the writing and the story up until the VERY last page. It felt like the book didn't wrap up, like it didn't end at a logical place, like it had another few pages at least to deal with the characters shift of view at the end, and preferably a few more chapters to mention where it went from there. I also thought that "The Audit" was the one who the fortune teller said could be trusted, but they didn't really go into that, or into "Reviled"s fortune. Hopefully the sequel will cover these points and give the book the ending it deserved.

    1. I'm pretty sure that the fortune was saying that Claire was no threat to her, as in she didn't have to worry about Claire and Ray dating.

Anyway, as has been said, this was a wonderful novel, and I can't wait to read the sequel.

    2. That is exactly what the fortune was saying!

  7. I did absolutely love the book and am looking forward to the sequel, but I have to disagree with the others who posted before me. Don't fast track it. Make it just as good as the first one. It will be worth waiting for.

  8. Saw this article today about a 13 year old boy who built a nuclear fusion reactor at school. Which only goes to show how close to reality 13 year mad scientists really are :D

  9. I was looking at things to nerd out about early last week, and so I searched "superhero books" on my kindle Amazon store. This happened to come up and (even though I shouldn't do this) I totally judged the book by the Cover/Title. And it felt soooo good to do so!!! This book is right up there with Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, and Cirque Du Freak, but on a whole other platform of entertainment (the book being about superheroes anyway)!!! It really was one of the best books I have read in a very very very very long time!!! I can't wait to read the sequel either!!

Also, as a side not, you should totally turn this into a graphic novel or something!

  10. I liked "Please don't tell my parents I'm a super villian" and "Wild children". I did not particularly like Quite Contrary or 'sweet dreams are made of teeth'

What I like most about those first two is that somehow they triggered this feeling deep inside me of limitless imagination and possibilities. A sorta "This feels like a complete story, with all the threads wrapped up, and yet it can go so much further!" A sorta haunting sense of fulfillment.

Also I liked that most of the protagonists were fairly smart, and self aware without knowing that they were in a story.
